Rabbi Daniel
Cohen
Senior Rabbi, Congregation
Agudath Sholom
Rabbi Cohen began serving as spiritual leader
of Congregation Agudath Sholom in 2005. Born and raised in Atlanta,
Georgia, Rabbi Cohen is a graduate of Yeshiva University in New York
and its Azrieli Graduate School. He received his rabbinic ordination
from Yeshiva University’s Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary.
After his ordination he and his wife, Diane, spent a year in Israel,
after which he returned to the States to serve as an assistant Rabbi in
West Orange, New Jersey. His first pulpit as a senior rabbi was in West
Hartford where he spent about seven years in which time he doubled
their membership. Rabbi Cohen then moved on to a much larger synagogue
in Denver, a position he held for the three years immediately prior to
coming to Congregation Agudath Sholom. Rabbi Cohen serves as a National
Officer of the Rabbinical Council of America, a Regional Board Member
of the Anti-Defamation League, a member of American Israel Public
Affairs Committee National Council and the current Chairman of the Vaad
of Fairfield County and the Stamford Rabbinical Council.
Rabbi Cohen also exudes a passion for Jewish outreach. While in West
Hartford, he founded Jewish Links to share the joys of Judaism and most
recently he launched the website www.40daystoabetteryou.com
Rabbi Cohen and Diane are the
proud parents of six daughters: Sara Malka, Michal, Adina, Elisheva,
Tamar and Shalhevet.
