Rabbi Daniel Cohen
Rabbi Daniel Cohen
Rabbi Cohen joined CAS as our spiritual
leader on August 1, 2005.
CAS
President Howard Rothman described Rabbi Cohen as warm, passionate and
energetic. He further stated, “The rabbi has all of the characteristics
that we believe are necessary to take on the challenges of our
congregation and to grow our membership and establish a vision for our
shul.”
Cohen joins the staff at CAS after being
spiritual leader of Beth Midrash Hagadol-Beth Joseph in Denver, Colorado
for three years. Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Rabbi Cohen is
a graduate of Yeshiva University in New York and its Azrieli Graduate
School. He received his rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University’s
Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. He and wife, Diane, were
married while he was still a student. After his ordination he and his
wife spent a year in Israel and returned to the States to serve as an
assistant Rabbi in West Orange, New Jersey. His first pulpit as a senior
rabbi was in West Hartford where he spent about seven years in which time
he doubled their membership. Rabbi Cohen then moved on to a much larger
synagogue in Denver.
In commenting about his move back to the
East Coast with his wife and six young daughters, he stated “I am thrilled
to be joining the Stamford community with my wife
Diane and our daughters. We are looking forward to helping catalyze the
vibrant growth of the Stamford Jewish community and CAS family. CAS is
uniquely positioned to offer multiple gateways of spiritual connection for
a diverse Jewish population while increasing the joy and relevancy of
Judaism in people’s lives. With God’s help, we will strengthen CAS as a
beacon of Jewish unity, learning and living for many years to come.”
